So many of us feel uncomfortable on the camera. Whether it is from feeling self conscious, worried about privacy or a desire to let the work speak for ourselves, this is a hurdle so many new members in The Residency have to work around. Today we are featuring Patti Smith of Hearth and Blooms because we have loved the ways she's showing up online for her art!
One of the ways Patti recently incorporated more of herself in her Instagram feed included a video that addressed her camera shyness head on (Check it out here!). This was such a playful way to show a behind the scenes view of her at work and her smile at the end of her clip is so charming and engaging! Video is a strong tool for connecting with our audience, allowing them to get to know us better and feel like they can trust us. As Patti continues to get more comfortable in front of the camera we can't wait to see how she puts some of the techniques we share in the Photography elective to use. She has really streamlined her website to be easy to navigate, all while building consistency in her brand. Her headshot even mirrors colors seen in some of her featured work. Another little detail we love on her website is titling her blog "Journal", which feels so complementary to the warm and inviting brand seen in Hearth and Blooms. Keep up the good work, Patti and we can't wait to see what steps you take next!
